Joseph Khakshouri - a photo exhibition on the blurring of ideas
The question that preoccupied Joseph Khakshouri for a long time was: what is a photograph and what isn’t? In his exhibition near Zurich he moves as far away as possible from conventional techniques, to capture moments, which dramatically blur the actual “idea” of a photograph.
Hazy colour unions, which rarely reveal the slightest touch of what they once were. Landscapes, moments, things. The work in his exhibition is groundbreaking.
Jospeh originally photographed reportages, most of which were published in the New York Post. He travelled to many countries, where he documented incredibly beautiful and far less beautiful moments. For example, in 2004 he flew to the Tsunami region in Sri Lanka and captured the dire situation on camera.
Upon his return he realised that stories about the usual A, B, C and even D celebrities were met with far more interest than reports on what was really going on in the world.
He abandoned his camera for several years. But he couldn’t entirely refrain from using it. Thus he is currently working on various projects, including a collaboration with photographer Michel Comte.
