Met Costume Institute Ball 2010 - annual society red carpet catwalk at the Metropolitan Museum in New York

The Met Costume Institute Gala was once again held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The motto was ‘American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity’ and stars flocked the red carpet donning absolutely stunning designs to celebrate the fashion retrospective of the same name, which offers 25,000 exhibits to eagerly awaiting eyes.

Besides Vogue Editor Anna Wintour and TV star Oprah Winfrey, guests to the gala on 3 May included Gisele Bündchen and Anne Hathaway. Doutzen Kroes was on trend and one of the beauties to present their dresses whilst linking arms with the designers themselves.

Victoria Secret beauty Karolina Kurkova was truly eye-catching and enchanted everyone with her natural, classic beauty – subtly complimented with modern classic accessories by Repossi. Singer M.I.A also accessorised her fierce gown with gold pieces by the coveted jewellery label.

Those that missed out on the display of haute couture and would like to indulge their passion for fashion better pack a bag quick and head to New York City. The exhibition at the Metropolitan offers countless highlights and a gorgeous museum shop to match.

And don’t forget the audio guide: Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker’s voices takes you through the sacred space. Those of us that sadly can’t make it to New York on time can reconcile ourselves with a BEST OF COSTUME !
