Videonale 13! Video art festival in Bonn - take part. Deadline for artists is in September.
Two years have passed and the time has nearly come for another Videonale. The 13th edition of the German festival for contemporary video art will be held at the Kunstmuseum Bonn, from 14 April until 29 May 2011. This may sound like a long way away, but for the artists that wish to take part, the deadline is already next month!
The Videonale was founded in 1984 and takes place every two years. Art Magazine, Germany refers to it as a ‘place for discoveries’ and it is one of the oldest festivals for video art in Europe. It is particularly renowned for its innovative entries and presentations.
A team of architects and designers will once again create an inspiring environment for the upcoming event, which will reflect the high standards of the show’s visuals and media art.
An international team of experts will select around 40 works, which will then be presented in a six-week exhibition in Bonn. A 4-day programme will celebrate the opening, with symposiums, performances, workshops and presentations. We recommend a closer look at the programme before the event kicks off, as the Videonale attracts artists, experts and students from all over the world.
After the show in Bonn, the selected works will tour international institutions. Past tour stops have included the LOOP video art festival in Barcelona, the Museum of Modern Art in Glasgow, the Invideo Festival in Milan and the Bosnian Herzegowina National Gallery in Sarajevo.
Attention, attention, all applicants: this year is the first to accept multi-channel entries. Work can deal with any subject, but has to be less than two years old (from January 2008 onwards). All exhibited videos will automatically be entered in the competition for the Videonale award.
The deadline for entries is 20 September 2010. For further information and registration forms go to www.videonale.org.
We are looking forward to watching your video art! See you in Bonn.
