WORMLAND Art Collection - a new artistic approach to the season launch with Diana Scheunemann, Ali Kepenek and Stephan Geisler
To mark the Spring/Summer 2010 season start, Wormland fashion stores throughout Germany are presenting their clients with large format reproductions of selected works by fashion photographers ALI KEPENEK and DIANA SCHEUNEMANN, as well as by artist STEPHAN GEISLER. The pieces will be on display at their stores in Munich, Cologne, Hanover, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Essen, Dortmund and Bremen.
The WORMLAND ART COLLECTION is a collaboration with the three renowned artists to provide a lateral visual communication between the public and art, in a public space. The project was initiated, created and realised in-house by Creative-Director Dirk Koeberle, Project Manager Cornelia Tibke and Art Director Michael Meise.
The Wormland team is pleased to provide these three artists with the opportunity of simultaneously presenting reproductions of their works in eight cities throughout Germany. The unique, progressive visualisation of the artwork also provides a positive change to the image of the individual stores.
In addition to the reproductions, an additional two artists have been provided with a forum, which specialises in a medium, which has become increasingly popular in our communication – video and podcasts. Thomas Israel and Nico Vogelsang (www.tonictrix.com) not only artistically documented the project, they also created two different video film projects, specially conceptualised and created for the WORMLAND ART COLLECTION.
The art videos can be viewed in stores on monitors, the documentary is available as an unlimited podcast download, any time.
In contrast, the WORMLAND ART EDITION: is strictly limited: several exhibited photo motifs can be purchased in various sizes from www.wormland.de , however there are only 3 re-prints per image. These prints are made using a DiBond plate then sealed and UV protected with a Plexiglas sheet.
Stephan Geisler’s paintings can only be purchased as originals, send all queries to artcollection@wormland.de bearbeitet.
The idea of connecting art and fashion has a historical background: Theo Wormland (1907-1983), founder of the WORMLAND business, was a passionate art collector. After his death, the Theo Wormland Foundation managed the business and the art collection. The Theo Wormland Collection, a high-class collection of surreal art, is exhibited on permanent loan at the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich. In addition to this, the Theo Wormland Foundation is one of the main initiators of the building of the Pinakothek der Moderne art museum, as well as one of its ‘constructors’!
