Indiecredible : Burberry at London Fashion Week - next summer promises a celebration of British indie!
Last week Burberry unveiled next season’s must-haves to an exclusive crowd of a-listers at London’s Chelsea College of Art and Design.
GoSee joined guests such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Alexa Chung to applaud Christopher Bailey’s latest twists on the traditional British label’s classic designs.
At London Fashion Week back in February, GoSee witnessed Burberry’s fashion forward presentation of this season’s signature aviator jacket (link), which was broadcast live in 3D to exclusive screenings around the world. The Spring/Summer 2011 show was screened to its widest audience yet. The event we attended in London last week was also streamed live on Burberry.com, through mobile, iPads and iPhones and at over 300 global online blogs and news, technology and fashion websites.
Guests at the in-store events and online could immediately pre-order next season’s looks just as soon as they were premiered. Orders can be placed on the website until 28 September and will be ready for delivery in just 7 weeks!
7 weeks might not sound like a long time when you are used to the usual luxury label wait until literally next season, but with looks as coveted as Burberry’s latest collection, it feels like forever! Our wardrobes are craving an update of their leather-trimmed trench coats, fiercely glamorous studded biker jackets, python leather and animal prints. As the colder temperatures of autumn and winter begin to take shape we already yearn for the boy’s rebellious leather looks teamed with sandals and bare feet slipped into patent brogues, the girls in their short dresses doubled with cropped biker jackets, bare legs and sky-scraper heels.
The acoustic indie soundtrack was a perfect accompaniment to the rockstar inspired outfits and front row guests including British bands Life in Film, The Cheek and Ramona. We got in the mood for mellow summer evenings with acoustic recordings of ‘Rose’ by The Feeling and ‘I Want You’ by Squeeze.
GoSee readers will be pleased to discover that the soundtrack, just like the collection, is also ready to purchase from your favourite music stores now. ‘Burberry Acoustic: The Collection For London Fashion Week’ features rare titles by legendary British indie icons such as David Bowie and The Pogues, as well as recordings by emerging UK bands such as Life in Film and the Feeling, some band members of which have also modelled in the label’s past and current campaigns.
So, whilst this year’s sunny days come to a close we can tide over the wait for Burberry’s 2011 Spring/Summer season with cosy evenings listening to next season’s soundtrack and testing out the label’s very own new make-up range.
