Kobi Levi - wearable shoe sculptures by the mad hat..errr... shoemaker
Since the beginning of the year, he has been the talk of the fashion world and his shoe creations apparently long to be the talk of the town anyway. You can take this quite literally. He – in this case, Kobi Levi – who names his designs ‘Blow’, ‘Chewing Gum’ or ‘Tongue’ does not plan to sole pious ladies for their way to church.
The shoe designer sees his creations as alive, even when they are not being worn. He draws his inspirations from the so-called world of shoes. His work is tongue in cheek and all pieces are handcrafted in his studio. His designs can be looked on as wearable sculptures.
Kobe Levi finished his degree at the Bezalel Academy of Art & Design in Jerusalem in 2001 and specialised in footwear design. Ever since, he delighted international companies with his designs, which have also been exhibited in places such as Tel-Aviv, Tokyo, Verona, St.Etienne and Berlin.
If there were a mad shoemaker alongside the mad hatter in Alice in Wonderland, it would be Kobi Levi. For what it's worth, we are following the creation of his little pieces of art with sheer delight.
