Great Ads for Good Causes - social campaigns by Act Responsible, the Japan Emergency Creative Aid, The White Pencil by DA&D & the Fireflies on tour in 2011
Even though the majority of creative people are busy with meetings and contacts – we can only recommend the Social Campaigns exhibition by Act Responsible for next year. Here on GoSee, some of the featured motifs.
A particular highlight was the vagina monologues about the sexual education of young women, made in Nigeria (the ladies that is), by McCann Erickson. But also Grey and Saatchi&Saatchi were on their usual top form.
THE JAPANESE PAVILION – was the location of the Japan special exhibition for the ACT Expo, which was waiting for us. 80 works from 20 countries. Of course, everything held in red and white. Inspiring Creativity – motto of the Cannes Lions 2011, but we writers would have asked for a little more visual stimuli. Or did we just not grasp the idea of reduction?
Even more creation? ACT just announced the winners of the CARE AWARDS...
Furthermore, the Friends of Saatchi Brothers auctioned a golden Cannes Lion that had been transformed into a satellite by Billy Childish by - all proceeds went to a good cause. The profits will also be donated to the Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.
In 2012, the D&AD, well-known for his black pencils, will award the 'White Pencil' for the first time, an award for creative ideas that seek to improve the world, drawing attention of charitable organisations and causes and, if possible, contribute to changing our behaviour.
In order to take part in the competition, the works must have been produced and actually run, no matter whether that happened in a big or small fashion. So, all you creative heads out there, there is no way we can prove the PR power of GoSee to a better degree.
D&AD eloquently describes the selection criteria as such: “The idea must be highly original and inspiring, well done and relevant in regards to its context. Furthermore, it should have global potential and be media neutral.”
POD (Peace One Day), founded in 1999 is the initiative’s supporting partner. They called for the 21st of September to be Peace Day, and on that day the White Pencil winners will have the chance to show off their skills and ensure the worldwide promotion of POD. At the same time, 2012 is the 50th anniversary of D&AD colleagues.
Gina Rembe was fighting for the good cause on location (see photographs attached), armed with T-Shirts and leaflets – and a camera. Just like us.
The Fireflies were once again on tour in 2012 – 1000km across the Alps, from Geneva to Cannes, all in eight days to arrive just in time for the festival. The project collects money that is used for research in the fight against Leukaemia. The tour is sponsored by industry partners.
