Philips Cinema : The Gift - sci-fi thriller by Carl Erik Rinsch wins Cannes Lions Gold for Special Effects & Computer Graphics
This year, the Film Craft Lion (Special Effects) was presented for the very first time. ‘The Gift’, a short film by Ridley Scott Associates (RSA) Director Carl Erik Rinsch received the award. The science fiction thriller is one of five short films, which were realised for the Parallel Lines campaign by PHILIPS.
Philips commissioned five top directors from Ridley Scott Associates (Jake Scott, Greg Fay, Johnny Hardstaff, Carl Erik Rinsch and Hi-Sim) to shoot a short film each with the same dialogue, to capture the innovative picture and sound quality of Philips televisions’ Ambilight Technology.
Carl Rinsch’s version was awarded the Grand Prix for Direction and Gold for Special Effects & Computer Graphics in the Film Craft category at the 57. Cannes Lions Advertising Film Festival. The DDB London agency headed the Philips Parallel Lines campaign.
The director is renowned for his often futurist-inspired advertising films. His advertising spots for German companies Saturn and Hornbach have proven equally as popular.
GoSee is pleased to present the film. Go to www.cinema.philips.com for further information, as well as to view the four other must-see short films.
