Queen Vivienne and her Wooly Crowns. Vivienne Westwood presents the new Red Label Collection - dirty 30 seconds on GoSee FILM

On Sunday night, Vivienne Westwood presented her latest AW 2011 Red Label collection at the Royal Courts of Justice during London Fashion Week. GoSee was there and captured a couple of the highlights on video for our readers to enjoy at home.

GoSee Film exclusively presents 30 raw and dirty seconds of the Queen of Fashion waving to her royal fashion subjects.

Although Westwood has unveiled collections at this historic address before, last night the regal theme was particularly echoed in the choice of venue. The beautifully backcombed wild bed heads of the models were adorned with a return to the designer’s crown hats in a show that focused on British wool, with a royal seal of approval from none other than Patron HRH The Prince of Wales.

The Queen of British fashion was inspired by an interview she heard on BBC Radio 4 with a sheep farmer from Wales, who was worried that he could no longer sustain his wool business, as the price of wool no longer covers the cost of shearing his sheep. Westwood consequently dedicated her AW11 show to her belief that ‘in the near future only natural fibres will be considered luxury and will be in high demand’.

The collection was full of cosy layered and sustainable wool looks, with models draped in over size cardigans in a warm colour palette ranging from ochre to burgundy. The crowning glory headdresses also looked as if they had been created from wool. Winter chills will be kept at bay with luxurious wool socks and necks will be wrapped in Westwood’s beautiful scarves. So, although we are looking forward to warmer months in the near future, we can also look forward to showing off Westwood’s sustainable woollies in the winter.

Plus, since it’s such a long wait for the AW11 collection to hit stores, you can order an XL shopper bag (ideal beach bag size) from the Vivienne Westwood Ethical Fashion Africa collection, now available from the label’s online store. The bags are created by women in impoverished African communities using recycled materials from roadside advertisement banners and safari tents.

The Ethical Fashion Programme supports the work of over 7,000 women who live in conditions of extreme poverty, by providing them with a job and income to provide themselves and their families with a life-long trade.
