Parallel Lines Film - "Porcelain Unicorn"

Tell it your way - what is that? the winning spot on GoSee

GoSee has already reported on the PHILIPS Parallel Lines campaign. Here we present competition winner Keegan Wilcox’s spot. The Tell It Your Way competition’s only criteria was a short script – the rest was left up to the filmmakers.

This time the text was: “what is that? That is a unicorn. Never seen one up this close before. Beautiful. Go away! Go away! I’m sorry.”

The film had to be less than three minutes long, the text only used once, but the language was flexible. Over 600 entries speak the clear message.

The text inspired director and winner Keegan Wilcox to produce a short film, which illustrates how traumatic experiences haunt us for the rest of lives. Sir Ridley Scott on his choice of winner: “I chose Porcelain Unicorn to be the winning film as it had a very strong narrative; a very complete story that was well told and executed.”

Keegan says : “I'm honored and humbled Sir Ridley Scott selected our film from five equally deserving entries. This came as a huge surprise. Being awarded the opportunity from Philips to gain valuable work experience at RSA is a privilege and a first step on the long road to a career.”

The 10 finalists were voted by the RSA, the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) and Philips. They made their decision based on creativity and story telling, as well as the use of the Parallel Lines dialogue and technical sophistication.

Once the Top 5 had been voted on Youtube, Sir Ridley Scott made the final decision as to who won the prize*. The people’s choice award went to French director Cedric Petitcollin’s slapstick comedy - Baby Time.
