'Beyoncé Giselle Knowles (* 4. September 1981 in Houston, Texas) is an US-American R&B and soul artist, actress, songwriter and winner of multiple Grammy awards.

She was a member of the R&B girl group Destiny’s Child until 2005 and married US-American rapper Jay-Z in April 2008. She uses her first name as her artist name, while she tends to call herself Sasha Fierce during concerts', says Wikipedia.

Her current and fourth album ‘4’ was released on the 24th of June in 2011. The album is inspired by the likes of Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. The album went straight to number 1 on the American Billboard 200, just like its predecessors, with 310,000 copies sold in the first week.

This makes her the second female artist and third in general, to have their first four albums all enter the top spot of the Billboard 200 upon release.
