Francois Roberts pictures that get under your skin - 'Stop the Violence' - the art of bones
It is often though that when our most human core surfaces, then the soul is truly laid bare. Francois Robert presents the inner working of humans in a very plastic way and reveals the spirit of many. In his ‘Stop the Violence’ project, he presents symbols of war, politics and religion in a very haunting way: in a collage made of human bones.
The artist arranges the white remains on a black background to form pistols, grenades, knives, a David’s Star and a Christian cross. He reworks skulls, ribs, spines, shoulder blades and hands. He shows what stays behind when conflicts break out.
The Swiss-born artist lives in Chicago and is renowned for his provocative photography. His work can be viewed at www.francoisrobertphotography.com.
