GoSee Tip : M/M Paris + Byredo Perfumes = M/Mink. A sum of creative talents with a successful outcome.
What is the best way to describe a new scent? That’s right, with a good design. Byredo released a new perfume in collaboration with M/M Paris: M/Mink. An artwork series, inspired by photographs by Vinoodh Matadin and Inez van Lamsweerde was with lashings of Indian ink and plenty of skin. A true piece of art.
The wordplay with ink, resulted from the development of an idea. In 2009, Micharl Amzalag and Mathias Augustyniak of M/M Paris invited Ben Gorham of Byredo to their studio and presented him with a solid block of printing ink, the picture of a Japanese calligrapher and the sketch of a formula on Korean paper.
Together with perfumer Jérôme Epinette of Robertet, Ben translated the three pictures into a scent. The result turned out to be an unusual composition of dried patchouli leaves, clover honey and ambergris with a simple structure and extraordinary character.
