GoSee Tip : The Dieline Awards honour the best packaging designs from food to jeans
Packaging design as exciting as fashion design? Certainly. Andrew Gibbs has dedicated his new website The Dieline to the exteriors of all products, as well their creators, students and enthusiasts. The Dieline Awards were recently held in Chicago. GoSee presents a small selection of the winners.
The 30 packaging designs were awarded in 10 categories. Entries were accepted from all over the world.
Boy Bastiaens / Stormhand from the Netherlands won the ‘Books, Office & Art Supplies, Toys, Clothes/Accessories’ category. They created a Japanese packaging design made from fine bamboo, wrapped around the product – jeans in this case, for French denim label Atelier LaDurance.
ChappsMalina’s tiny Help Remedies pillboxes came in first place in the ‘Best of Show’ category. Printed slogans such as ‘help, I can’t sleep’ and ‘help, I help, I have a headache’ make them easy to find in overcrowded medicine cabinets.
Turner Duckworth’s Coca-Cola identity in cans, cups and bottle shapes came second in the ‘Beverage’ category. Alex Creamer came second in ‘Food B’ with his NYC spaghetti creation a la Chrysler Building.
EarBudeez of JDA, Inc. Retail Ready Design also came in second place in the ‘Electronics, Technology, Movies, CDs’ category. Earphones packaged in a cute face design. Pearlfisher’s Cadbury Buttons are also just as eye catching and came in third place on the ‘Food C’ category.
