Modefabriek - innovative, creative & very international: THE fashion trade fair, not just for Amsterdam
Since the haute couture shows in Paris and Berlin Fashion Week already presented the coming collections in July, the fashion circus is set to pitch tent in Amsterdam at the end of the month.
The city’s Modefabriek is inspiring, progressive and has offered a consistently high standard of quality for many, many years. This is a trade fair that knows how to combine a productive business with an informal atmosphere.
It has grown steadily since 1996 and still draws in a national and international crowd, despite or perhaps because of its loyalty to the original concept.
Originally housed in rustic factory warehouses and an airplane hangar, in 2003, the fashion event moved to the RAI - the Netherlands’ largest conference centre.
The Modefabriek is divided into six segments, which provide the visitors with a clear overview:
‘Refined’ unites innovative, exclusive fashion and is an important platform for luxury designers and high-end fashion brands, ranging from Odd Molly to Vivienne Westwood Anglomania.
‘Appearance’ covers a range of leading, internationally recognised brands, such as Antik Batik. ‘Authentic’ presents contemporary classics, whose distinctive features appeal to a wider public.
‘Limited’ represents premium denim and fashion brands, including 10 Feet, Edwin and Lacoste. ‘Industry’ is focused on young and dynamic labels, denim and high-street fashion – e.g. Le temps des cerises and Nümph.
The sixth and largest segment is modern and cosmopolitan, harmonising restrained chic and luxury. Labels include Adriano Goldschmied Fred Perry and René Lezard.
The Modefabriek takes place on a bi-annual basis and is open to industry only. Offspring followed in 2005: the mini fabriek is aimed at the little ‘uns and goes about presenting the most exciting kidswear out there in the same light as the grown-up designs.
So, you know what to do, pack your bags and head for Amsterdam!
