Christoph Siegert : live photo shoot at the 'Dream Men' exhibition and the last compulsory community service volunteers for the Stiftung Mensch charity in photo and film
The Deichtorhallen held their late night museum opening on the 16th of April with a ‘The World’s Most Beautiful Men’ theme. This was in keeping with their two current exhibitions ‘Gilbert & George’ and ‘Dream Men – 50 Star Photographers Present their Vision of the Ideal’.
A special programme was organised for the Haus der Photographie ad the ‘Dream Men’ exhibition: to celebrate the show, real men were invited to present themselves.
Photographer Christoph Siegert shot male visitors in a live photo shoot. The portraits, which were realised under the watchful eyes of museum visitors are defined by their lighting and strong contrasts.
The public were also able to observe a professional model shoot directed by Christoph, which spread out into the exhibition amongst the visiting crowds.
The photographer can look back on a history of collaboration with the Deichtorhallen. On the late night opening, he became the 51st photographer in the ‘Dream Men’ exhibition.
In another film and photo exhibition, Christoph presents the everyday lives of the last men to complete German compulsory community service. He shot photos of 13 community service participants and staff of the Stiftung Mensch charity on Polaroids, which were later scanned and enlarged.
“We want to try to capture the unique relationships, which developed between the volunteers and staff”, explains Christoph.
The exhibition on the social project also includes a 10-minute film, which documents the volunteer’s work and everyday lives. After being in place for almost 50 years German compulsory community service for men will end in mid 2011.
The exhibition will take place from the 13th May until the 3rd of July 2011 at the Neuen Holländerei Gallery in Meldorf.
