Darius Ramazani : striking portraits of the elderly for SANA BLAUBUCH, ALLIANZ AG's magazine 1890, Club of Marrakesh initiator in EDITION magazine and awards

Photographer Darius Ramazani from Berlin has been busy travelling in Russia and the States (amongst other countries) to realise several new projects. In addition to this, the portraits he created during a stay in Africa have been nominated for two awards.

Darius photographed several spreads for SANA BLAUBUCH magazine, a new bi-annual magazine by the Sana Kliniken AG from Munich. The production involved portraits of elderly people, dealing with the topic of heart operations for over-80-year olds and agility at old age.

Darius captures the lively spirit and joy de vivre of the old folks and at the same time, sheds some light on an important part of our social spectrum. The magazine's art direction, catering for both patients and medical experts, was in the hands of Christoph Schulz-Hamparian. Amedick & Sommer headed the production.

He also photographed the cover story of Allianz AG's customer magazine 1890. The motifs span over multiple generations and show joyous situations of everyday life featuring kids and their grand parents. His photographs embody the motto 'Staying young together. Generations get together' in strong and expressive portraits.

Darius portrayed Bernd Kolb, who set up 'Club of Marrakesh', for EDITION Magazine. The entrepreneur, who has been a member of the board of directors of Telekom for quite a long time, founded the club as a global and interdisciplinary network in 2010.

The portrait shoot for the first issue, titled “All that we hold dear” took place in the branch library for classic archaeology at Humboldt University in Berlin.

He travelled to Moscow twice in September to work on various productions. Details will be available following the official release. He just returned from NYC, where he has been working on a new book project. The second more news becomes available you will hear about it here on GoSee.

Last but not least, there has been some well-deserved appraisal for his work: 'Designerpreis Deutschland' nominated the motifs of the 'Old People' series, which CARITAS AUSTRIA selected for its campaign.

The 'International Color Awards 2011' nominated two photographs: an image featuring a girl from the 'Schoolgirl' photography series, which shows South African kids in their typical school uniforms, for the Portrait category as well as a motif of a boy taken from Ramazani's photo series produced in Senegal for the People category.
