Marc Trautmann : TOYOTA RAV4 - catalogue production in Los Angeles, BFF Silver in the Transportation Category

Marc Trautmann and his crew photographed and used CGI to finish the new TOYOTA RAV4 catalogue in late autumn, in the LA area. A CGI operator was on location for the duration of the two-week production. This enabled the exact settings to be pre-visualised on location and run past the Creation Department.

The BFF 2010 Yearbook jury presented the lucky photographer with the BFF Silver Award, in the Transportation category, for his ‘Secret Areas’ CGI work.

The work was inspired by the ‘Guerre et cinema’ book by the late philosopher Paul Virillo. In his book, Virillo describes the juxtaposition of war and images. During the Cold War, in addition to producing real weapons, fake weapons were created as dummies so as to be discovered by enemy aerial reconnaissance and the secret services, ultimately acting as a deterrent.

MAINWORK carried out the postproduction and CGI work for both productions.
