Arno Schaller : speedy animals and sharp machines - postproduction for the BMW S 1000 RR motorbike motifs

Markus Hofmann photographed the ‘Wild Things’ image motifs for the presentation of the new BMW S 1000 RR motorbike, with model Bonka Steinhauser. The ‘Supermodel on a Superbike’ motif was shot with Ann Kathrin Ruhl.

The postproduction of both pieces saw the development of a futurist-inspired look. Arno Schaller worked on the details, as in the polishing of metal and carbon surfaces, removing collars from the leopards’ necks and annoying bits of hair that were caught in front of the models’ faces.

This was followed by completing covered parts of the motorbike and navigating the helicopter to just the right position. He also carried out the commando of ‘lights off, spot on’ – the afternoon on the flying base was suddenly transformed into mysterious, after sunset darkness.

The S 1000 RR product presentation includes the ‘Welcome to Planet Power’ exhibition of the resulting motifs as large format prints at the BMW Motorbike Centre, Munich. The motifs will be in display until March 2010.
