Sexual Overtones - Straulino's fine selection now available as a book

STRAULINO N°2 – Sexual Overtones is already the second book by the photographer from Seltmann + Söhne. It will be a rather difficult undertaking to pick a favourite from all the images in 'Sexual Overtones'.

“We only choose the strongest”, says Straulino – and it becomes apparent that there is lot more that is most definitely worth seeing and rather impressive. Now this is the final choice, all those that made the cut and are part of the compendium, of loose pages – “I like the unbound format, it gives you a whole new way of approaching the motifs”, explains the photographer.

How Straulino sees the world and its female population, might as well be the title of the work – yet the title 'Sexual Overtones' emerged in a aftermath of a job for the New York Magazine: the editor in chief deemed the series to be too sexually charged – a surprising objection, given that erotic allusions can usually never be seductive and direct enough in the world of modern visual language. “I said thank you and now I have a title for my book”. The majority of the pictures have not previously been released and were created from 2008 to 2010.
