BrücknerFischer : Ulli Lommel portrait in SPIEGEL, editorial in ZEIT MAGAZIN, new landscape motifs - as fresh as a sea breeze

Dieter MAYR portrayed actor, director, scriptwriter and filmmaker Ulli Lommel for SPIEGEL magazine. The shoot marks the publication of his autobiography, titled ‘Zärtlichkeit der Wölfe’ (the gentleness of wolves).

Ulli Lommel first graced the silver screen, aged 17 alongside Maria Schell. The son of a renowned radio comedian of the Weimar era and actress become a young idol in the ‘60s. Renowned director Rainer Werner Fassbinder discovered the ‘German Alain Delon’ in 1968 and collaborated with him on 16 of his films. He worked on films with Heinz Rühmann and Hildegard Knef, until he moved to New York in the late ‘70s and made two films for Andy Warhol (Blank Generation und Cocaine Cowboys). Uli Lommel created Polaroid collages with Andy Warhol, which were recently on display at the Aurora-Bar Gallery, Munich. The 65-year-old multi-talent has lived in Los Angles since the ‘80s and produces horror films.

His biography is named after a German feature film of the same title, from 1973, his second Fassbinder film as a director. ‘Zärtlichkeit der Wölfe’ tells the true story of Hanoverian serial killer Haarmann, who murdered a dozen boys between 1918 and 1924. Ulli’s book recalls his memories of Fassbinder, Andy Warhol, Romy Schneider, Jackie Kennedy-Onassis, Truman Capote, Frank Sinatra and Klaus Kinski, with whom he filmed ‘Diamant des Grauens’ in 1984.

ZEIT MAGAZIN won Gold at the Lead Award for its ‘Ich glaube, ich trete aus / Katholizismus in Deutschland’ (I think I am opting out/Catholicism in Germany) cover. Dieter MAYR photographed the interesting subject.

Eric THEVENET realised portraits of German actress Inga Busch, who debuted in a feature film at the start of the ‘90s in Detlev Buck’s ‘Karniggels’ comedy. Michele Thevenet provided the hair and make-up skills.

Thorsten ROTHER captured more new landscape shots on the coasts of Germany and Denmark. You can almost hear the roaring of the waves, the wind playing in the dunes and feel the sand on your fingertips. In 2010, Thorsten will expand his landscape portfolio to include moving image and will present a series of timescapes by summer.
