Damien Hirst in POP MAGAZINE - the unique artist's work presented in a unique setting

Billie SCHEEPERS photographed Damien Hirst for POP MAGAZINE. Last year, the exceptional British artist designed two covers for the fashion publication and now finds himself featured in the magazine.

In his art, Hirst circumnavigates life, disease and death. He is known for his animal carcasses, suspended in formaldehyde, such as the shark and of course ‘For the Love of God’, the platinum skull cast, adorned with 8,601 diamonds. It was sold in 2007 for 75 Million Dollars.

From 6 November 2010, Bowes Museum in County Durham will exhibit ‘Print Maker’. 50 impressive print works will be on display, including many which have not been shown before.

The series includes ‘The Last Supper’, 13 pictures which imitate the packaging of drugs, using humour and irony to engage with the question of whether drugs are just as vital as food.

The exhibition in England is a must-see for two reasons: Damien Hirst’s work and the gorgeous Barnard Castle location.
