Faces of our Time - celebrity portraits at the Atlas Gallery, London
We all know their faces, they are a part of our history. They have inspired, fascinated, amused, distressed and surprised us.
We kept some close to our heart, others are punished with deep disdain – but they always moved us. The ‘Faces of our Times’ were photographed on countless occasions in their lives.
The Atlas Gallery now presents several photographs of the renowned personalities in an elaborate exhibition in London.
The black/white photo of the Beatles, which Robert Freeman shot in 1963, travelled the world and still graces the walls of music enthusiasts today.
When Albert Einstein thoughtfully placed his index finger to his lips in Princeton, 1951, Ernst Haas was there to capture the moment on camera.
The mixture of documentary and eyewitness images and profound portraits enables us to remember major moments and relive past times.
They inspire fascination, just as the many stories and associations a single person can stir up.
Nelson Mandela, Che Guevara, Ernest Hemingway, Picasso and Kate Moss will also be on show in addition to Einstein and the Beatles. The exhibition opens on 29 April.
