Francois Nars celebrates the 15th anniversary of his cosmetics range with a strictly limited photo book

Make-up artist Francois Nars is celebrating the 15th anniversary of his own cosmetic range with a limited picture book, which will be available from 15×15project.com for 30 days from mid November onwards. The site will go live on 12 November at 2pm German time.

In keeping with the company’s anniversary theme, the publication is also titled 15x15 and includes 15 photographs of renowned friends of the make-up artist, whose Nars made-up faces document the talents of the star make-up artist.

The Frenchman trained at the Carita Make-up School in Paris and moved to New York after his graduation in 1984. He marketed himself as a one man show over there and thanks to his talent, soon began working for all the important fashion magazines. This was followed by campaigns for prominent fashion houses such as Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Karl Lagerfeld and Valentino.

In November 1994 he first began selling a series of 12 lipsticks, under his own name, through Barneys New York. The foundations of a beauty emporium had been laid out. Today Nars Cosmetics offers a complete product package and reaches turnovers well into the millions. The business joined the Shiseido Beauty Group in 2000. 

Through his collaborations with the world’s best fashion photographers, 50 year old Francois discovered his passion for the medium and has been shooting his own advertising for the cosmetics range since 1996.

The 15 x 15 photo book includes photos of his celebrity friends that he happens to style. The following 15 celebrities are depicted, each representing a certain beauty product: Marc Jacobs, Isabella Rossellini, Amber Valletta, Dayle Haddon, Naomi Campbell, Amanda Lepore, Daphne Guinness, Francois Vincentelli, Natasha Poly, Lisa Marie Smith, Olivier Theyskens, Carla Gugino, Shalom Harlow, Tyson Ballou and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

The book is limited to 1,500 and is priced at 80 USD. All profits will be donated to charity.
