Galerie Springmann.Varol celebrate their opening in Düsseldorf and present JR's 'Women are Heroes' - with the attendance of the artist

Gallerist Henrik Springmann and collector Selim Varol joined forces and founded the Springmann.Varol Gallery.

They specialise in contemporary international art and the presentation of up and coming artists in particular from all continents, taking pride in being the first to show them in Germany.

The Düsseldorf-based gallery presents the new ‘Women are Heroes’ series by JR at the opening celebrations on 23 April.

The French photographer, activist and artist’s work campaigns for peace and humanitarian interests.

The new project is a tribute to each woman, who daily falls victim to war, poverty, violence and suppression.

JR spent time in the impoverished areas of Rio de Janeiro, Phnom Penh, Delhi and Kiberia (Kenya) and documented the women’s life stories in touching portraits.

The artist will be present for the exhibition opening on 23 April.
