GoSee presents : Berry - Nouvelle Pop Francaise's new and unavoidable talent

France has a new gold child. Berry, the charismatic chansonière, referred to as this year’s debut sensation by Le Figaro, has sung her way into the national charts. Her songs are a new discovery in Nouvelle Pop Francaise. Now her tunes are being played on an international scale.

Berry, born Elise Pottier, chose to name herself after the region where author George Sand is from. Her music’s bitter sweet irony and lightness of touch overplays its underlying melancholy. Her songs are made up of poetic lyrics, accompanied by melodies and arrangements composed by jazz musicians who have already worked for the likes of Björk and Portishead.

The songstress says “the production was an absolutely exhilarating process”. The critics agreed, nominating her for the Victoires de la Musique Award, the French equivalent of the Grammy.

Motivated by her audience’s enthusiasm, Berry is not just selling on an  international scale avec plaisir, but also going on an international tour, which includes stops in Germany this September. Our favourite tracks are : ‘Mademoiselle’ and ‘Le Bonheur’. Find yours on www.berry-music.de.
