Lucien Clergue : Mi casa es su casa – at Picasso's house! Picasso's Houses special edition book including a limited edition portrait

Feymedia, Düsseldorf have published a limited edition print of renowned French photographer Lucien Clergue’s work. As a young man he met and became friends with Picasso, for a while he was like a member of the family.

His special bond with Picasso is captured in his historic images, numerous of which are published in the “Picasso’s Houses” photo book, by Feymedia.

The special edition of the book includes a print of a portrait of Picasso in front of his “La Californie“ villa in Cannes, selected by Lucien Clergue himself. The print is limited to 200 editions worldwide, each is numbered, signed and framed. The special edition book can be ordered online with Feymedia for 950 Euro.

Born and raised in Spain, Picasso spent his holidays at the Côte d´Azur, before finally moving there in 1955. He experimented with clay and types of glaze in Vallauris, a small village with traditional potteries. This is where he met ceramics sales assistant Jacqueline Roque, who was to become his second wife. He bought two houses, a grand villa in Cannes, a castle in Vauvenargues with a view of Paul Cézanne’s favourite motif; the Montagne Sainte-Victoire mountains, finally followed by a secluded mansion nestled amongst the hills of Mougins.

Picasso spent his last years at the Vauvenargues castle, where he painted furniture and stored countless pictures. Both his and Jaqueline Roque’s graves are located in the park. The property, which has only been visited by members of his family and close friends since his death 36 years ago, will be opened to visitors for the very first time from 25 May until 27 September 2009.

We recommend Picasso’s Houses the book (approx. 100 Euro) for a more comfortable armchair alternative to sightseeing.
